Actor Alex Høgh Andersen along with photographer Emilia Staugaard encapsulated glede on Denmark’s coastline in our fifteenth issue. Wandering the flat landscape, balancing rocky beaches, avoiding dried up seaweed. Stylist Kristoffer Vollhasse dressed Alex in clothes suitable for the colder months in Scandinavia - knitted jumpers and comfortable coats in neutral shades. The Danish actor is now back home after three and a half years filming History Channel’s Vikings in Ireland. He is happy to be home, but getting used to the less hectic schedule. Having finished the sixth season, he is now free to do whatever he wants, and on this day in particular, he chose to walk with Emilia and the waves.
“Working on a large production such as Vikings forces you to grow up very quickly because you learn to be very professional, and you’re constantly challenged. It’s physically and mentally tough. You become really strong and hardened while you also, in some weird way, get more in touch with yourself and your feelings. In the same regard, you become more sensitive”.
Alex really blew our minds in season 5 of Vikings with his complex portrayal of Ivar the Boneless. Commanding every frame, stirring feelings of both sympathy and anger toward his character - he leaves an impact on the viewer that only a handful of actors achieve. His performance is nothing short of extraordinary.
