Whilst on the topic of happiness, we knew for certain that LOVE had to take an integral part in our joyous fest in issue fifteen Glede. Love comes in all shapes and forms, so we asked photographer Sophie Mayanne to capture lovers, friends and ex-lovers (say what?) from the LGBTQ+ community. We wanted to explore different versions of love, so we juxtaposed best friends Herbie and Harry and ex-boyfriends Matt and Ben with the romantic couplings, Chase and Malthus and Josh and Riyadh. These eight boys reminded us that in the end, all you need is love.
Without love, we're just lifeless, empty vessels in blank space; separate islands with no bridges connecting us to one another; monotone beings going about our days with no purpose. Colourless. Bleak. Pointless. Love colours our inner life and the horizon ahead of us. Be it romantic or friendship, love keeps us going. Knowing that someone is there for you and loves you no matter what, that is the most basic of needs. Love is glede. Glede is love.
