"Even the smallest of things can make colossal waves."
He may have started out as the small boy with big, blue eyes in 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas', but he has since transformed into a well-travelled math genius, martian, superhero extraordinaire. Asa Butterfield is an 18 year old British actor from London that is under the Boys by Girls spotlight and on the cover for Issue 10, 'Muse'.
The self-depiction of 'extraordinarily ordinary' doesn't quite do him justice. He's more than brilliant, more than fabulous and he's totally up for anything. Actors open up new, imaginary worlds all of us can escape into and Asa's imagination is a key part to how his mind works. Throughout his Issue 10 shoot with Editor-in-Chief Cecilie Harris and Fashion Editor David Nolan, we found Asa to be quite genius at talking to his least favourite walls and crawling across dirty floors with his best lizard interpretations - let's see if any of his upcoming scripts can beat that.
Any task set was transformed into a light-hearted game. We have watched on screen as Asa transitioned from a child actor to more adult roles, and he has two films due to be released soon: 'Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children' on the 30th of September and 'The Space Between Us' early 2017.
Asa may have his muses, but he is in turn an inspiration for many. Every role he takes on he manages to make it convincing and compelling, giving the viewer a reason to escape into that world for a moment. The 14-page cover feature in our anniversary issue is a colour collection of his expressions, creativity and glimpse into the world of the talented actor.
