BBG Loves: Impossible Angle by Sergio Tacchini

29 January 2020

Whilst the rain continues to wash down and tennis season seems far, far away, we were thrilled when some new imagery landed in our inbox this week. Under Dao-Ti Chow's new creative direction, heritage tennis brand Sergio Tacchini is a label that you want to keep on your radar this year. Originating in the 60s, the brand invokes different memories for most. For some, the founder and disrupter of tennis wear, Sergio Tacchini himself, or John McEnroe in the 80s and 90s, and some for the iconic imagery of the likes of Jay-Z and the Notorious B.I.G. rocking their tracksuits and hoodies in the 90s.

The new era of the brand plays on the combination of sport and culture, examining how our past influences our future. Entitled Impossible Angle, the FW20 collection looks deeper into the brand's tennis roots - influenced by the shapes players make on the court, stretching for a volley, returning a drop shot - connecting heritage with the future. The mainline collection focuses on wearability and ease and there is no mistaking the influence of the 80s and 90s on these pieces. For now, we can only offer a sneak preview of what there is to come but keep an eye out because the FW collection will land online and in retailers faster than you can say Wimbledon.
