Krow’s TRANSformation is an important film that deserves to be seen by as many people as possible.
Wednesday last week, we ventured to the gala opening of Raindance Film Festival to watch Canadian trans model Krow Kian in Krow’s TRANSformation. Officially opening Raindance 2019, it set the tone for the rest of the festival. The documentary tracks Krow's gender transition from female to male, a long strenuous process that was beautifully captured and transferred onto the silver screen by first-time filmmaker Gina Hole Lazarowich. Through her close dissection of his experience, we visit the highs and lows of Krow's journey and in the process, we connect with a giddy, infectious boy who is finally able to correct nature's mistake and transform into his true self.
From pre-transition to three years post-transition, the film explores parent conversations, testosterone shots, the frustration endured from rescheduled operations, and the joy of finally having your outside reflect what you feel on the inside. To put it simply - Krow’s TRANSformation is an important film that deserves to be seen by as many people as possible. Lazarowich eternalises a period in Krow's life that is set to change everything - for the better. You walk out of the screening feeling good, optimistic and motivated because the moral of the story is this: you do you.
