Hermione Russell has caught her brothers in her lens.
Remind me that I am your brother, remind me that we share the earth under our feet like the blood in each other’s veins.
Time has been handed to us on a plate.
We eat it together, bake it in a cake, splash it in a droplet of water, in a trickle of sunlight running from my hand to yours.
I know you’re here because you’re in my eyes: we locate each other in time, wrap each other up in iris-pigment, memory forming as the tears collect on the corners of our smiles.
We are here, locked down in each other’s arms, forced to ride on each other’s shoulders through days fading into one another. Like clouds, they are blown about by the wind, swept around us as a mist, a dress-up box of hours becoming white sheets on our shoulders.
It is the end of time, but not the end of love - the way we float informs when we’ll be out of this dark water. It is almost over and our hearts are stronger. We smile and say we love the hours we share. May they be shared far past this moment where we’re forced to hold each other up.
