Dress up, dress down, dial in from your friend's house or don't move from bed at all. Listen up fashion lovers, it's festival season. But not as we know it.
The third weekend in October (23rd/24th) will play host to the first ever virtual festival brought to you by Fashion Minority Alliance (FMA), and promises to be a digital haven for creative expression like we've never seen before.
It's been a long while since we were this excited at the prospect of spending a day sat on video calls - but the powerhouse team at FMA have delivered a digital event for the ages, combining education and the international fashion industry to empower and uplift all who attend - all from the comfort of our own sofas, may we add.
The weekend will focus on three key areas - fashion, beauty, and lifestyle - pulled together by an inspiring headline panel of 'Tea Talks', including topics such as Inclusive Sustainability, MENtal Health, and Menopause and Me. Alongside these talks, there will be an array of incredible workshops across the three areas of focus - think Wear and Repair Sessions, Holistic Hand Care, and Life Drawing... Need we say more?
And whilst the FMA Fest 2021 is a celebration of the fashion industry in its purest, most accessible form, it will place diversity and inclusion at the forefront of the conversation, which has been FMA's raison d'ĂȘtre since its formation last year. Fearlessly non-profit and non-partisan, FMA works within the fashion and beauty industries to campaign for a more diverse, balanced, and inclusive world for BIPOC and Historically Marginalised talent.
Through representation and meaningful initiatives such as their debut digital festival, the aim is to "create structures and systems that move beyond rhetoric" - steps that will surely allow the beloved fashion and beauty industries to realise the egalitarian vision that we collectively hope for.
FMA Fest will be hosted virtually on www.fashionminorityalliance.com. Tickets coming soon.
