It was important for me to put Dylan Sprouse on the cover of our fifteenth issue. Having remained private for quite a few years, he was still a mystery to me, and I was so curious to learn more about him and his story. So I headed for LA together with my absolute fave girl, Danielle Levitt, and we spent a day with the talented actor to capture a colourful editorial and have an honest conversation.

Shortly after the shoot, it really hit me how much we have to learn from Dylan and how perfect he is for this issue. With a focus on finding 'glede', I dove into listening to his thoughts on happiness and his journey to embrace what life has to offer him. I'll let you read the full interview in the print issue, but I admire that his choices are truly guided by what makes him happy and creatively fulfilled. If we can all find the strength to choose the things that make us happy and not necessarily what others expect from us, that is one of the shiniest keys to happiness.

"I think you should put some pressure on yourself in leaving behind a good legacy. I think you owe it to your future self to look back and say: ‘I did all I fucking could’. I know 15-year-old Dylan is high-fiving the shit out of me right now. He is stoked. I hope that by the time I’m 40 and look back on 27-year-old Dylan, he is high-fiving him. And it’s just a long line of high-fives all the way up to death, haha."

In addition to making us laugh all day with his sharp sense of humour ("What am I, a sexy Frenchman?"), I also saw a more vulnerable side to him as he reflected on love, feeling things and coming into adulthood. This much I learned: Dylan is hard-working, he is smooth, funny and full of knowledge. He is talented, determined and makes his own choices - yet there is a lovely sensitivity and authenticity to his presence. And although I feel like there is more to learn, I left satisfied thinking that this story was the perfect next chapter to share on his journey.

To immerse yourself in Dylan's story, you can now take in the full 20-page cover story beyond these brief teasers. Our brand new Autumn Winter '19 issue Glede is available to buy online and in select stores worldwide.
